Our TRPDX annual membership event is usually geared to let us know know how much we appreciate YOU! Though it looks a little different this year, and is in the form of a virtual meeting, we still want to get together to vote in the new board for 2021 and also get to listen to speaker Shane Burcaw of Laughing at my Nightmare.
Shane Burcaw created a nonprofit, Laughing at my Nightmare, as a means to tell his life story of living with a disease that made his muscles waste away as he grew older. He's helped bring positivity and levity at a time when our members are managing the daily struggles that their employees and families are facing with the direct and indirect impact of COVID – health issues, stress and anxiety, financial hardships, caregiving, etc.
Shane and will be presenting with his wife Hannah. A note from Shane, "We speak together and many of our presentations focus on the ways that love and humor help us navigate adversity".
In 2011, a kid named Shane Burcaw from Bethlehem, PA started a humorous blog to tell his life story of living with a disease that made his muscles waste away as he grew older. He graduated from Moravian College with an English degree. His bestselling memoir was shortlisted for the ALA Excellence in Nonfiction Award. He also writes as a freelancer for The Morning Call. In addition, he is the author of Not So Different, a children's picture book that answers everything kids want to know about living with a disability. His blog, (Laughing At My Nightmare) about the humor of living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, has over half a million followers.
This is a FREE event for our members! Not yet a member? Check out benefits of joining now to roll over to 2021.
